Parmesan Grits Casserole

  • 2 1/2 c water
  • 4 c milk
  • 1 3/4 c grits
  • 1 clove, garlic, crushed
  • 3/4 c butter
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 c parmesan cheese, divided
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. white pepper
  • Paprika to taste 


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Bring the water and milk to a boil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the grits and cook until thick, stirring frequently. Add the garlic and butter and cool slightly. Add the eggs, 1/2 cup of the cheese, salt, black pepper, white pepper, and mix. Pour into a 2 quart baking dish. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese and paprika. Bake for 45 minutes or until set in the center.  To serve: Spoon onto a plate. Top with desired toppings. We suggest a fried egg and salmon as pictured!
