Congo Bars


  • 1 ½ sticks butter
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 c chopped pecans
  • 1 pkg milk chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Melt butter in a microwave safe bowl. In a large mixing bowl, pour the butter over brown sugar. Mix well. Add eggs and blend together with a hand mixer.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder and salt and mix thoroughly. Stir in the pecans and chocolate chips and pour and press the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, then cut into a 2 inch bars.
