Week 4 of VeryVera Camp has come and gone, along with our most enthusiastic group this summer! We had such a fun time last week with our oldest group of first-time campers, from making our own icebox pickles to taking a field trip to Good Earth Produce and Garden Center. This week was all about Farm-to-Table, and it culminated in our down-home banquet on Friday.

As always, we recognized each camper for his or her completion of the course, but two students were awarded the highest VeryVera Camp honor: Camper of the Week and Culinary Camper of the Week.

Our Advanced Beginner Culinary Camper of the Week was Sally Quarles. Sally impressed our kitchen counselors from the start, especially when she suggested adding lemon juice to our corn salad recipe, which totally changed the game! Beyond her culinary know-how, Sally was always patient and respectful in the kitchen. She was happy to jump in  wherever she was needed. Sally is 11 years old and is the daughter of Sharon and Mark Quarles.

Our Camper of the Week was Mary Brinn Chappell. Mary Brinn has the ability to improve the atmosphere of any room she enters. Always positive, Mary Brinn took initiative to help out wherever help was needed. Although surrounded by several of her closest friends all week, she was always inclusive and interacted with everyone. Mary Brinn is 11 years old and is the daughter of Kelly and Scott Chappell.
