Brown Sugar Almond Bars
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 Tbs. butter or margarine
1 Tbs. water |
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. lemon juice
3/4 cup sliced almonds
3/4 tsp. vanilla |
Cream together 1/2 cup butter or margarine and powdered sugar. Add
flour; mix well. Pat into ungreased 9x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350
degrees for 12 - 15 minutes. Melt remaining butter. Add brown sugar, 1
Tbs. water and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove
from heat; stir in almonds and vanilla. Spread over crust. Bake 15-20
minutes. Cool and cut into bars while warm.
Yield: 2 dozen
